The National Certificate in Fitness is a 1 year  full-time programme that is aimed at developing the complete fitness professional. It is level 5 on the NQF. Lectures are run daily from Monday to Thursday while Fridays are reserved for practical tasks and outings to various fitness/ sports science facilities.

• Levers and Biomechanics

• Principles of Training

• Client Screening

• Fitness Assessment

• Exercise programme design

• Cardiovascular Exercise Prescription

• Resistance Training and equipment orientation

• Stretching and Flexibility

• Postural Stabilizers

• Special Populations – Children, the Aged, Arthritis, Cardiac Rehab, HIV, the disabled

• Closed Working Environment

• Exercise Programmes for groups

• Maintain Fitness Environment and Equipment

• Operate Professionally in a Fitness Environment

• Nutrition and Weight Control and Management

• Sports Nutrition

• Sports Injuries

• Communication and Business Skills / entrepreneurship

• Monitor and maintain health, safety and security

• Motivate and encourage participation in physical activity
